Levaquin is used to reduce the development of drug-resistant bacteria and should be used only to treat or prevent infections that are proven or suspected to be caused by bacteria. Levaquin is a quinolone broad-spectrum antibiotic. It works by killing sensitive bacteria.
It is used to treat the following bacterial infections:
- ENT infections (sinusitis, otitis media),
- eye infections (bacterial conjunctivitis, blepharitis, purulent corneal ulcer, adult honorrheal and clamydia eye diseases),
- respiratory infections (chronic bronchitis, pneumonia),
- urinary tract infections (pyelonephritis, prostatitis),
- genital organs infections (chlamidoisis),
- skin and soft tissue infections (abscess, furuncle).
Levofloxacin may cause side effects:
- diarrhea,
- upset stomach,
- stomach pain,
- vomiting,
- headache,
- restlessness.
